Chelsea’s win over Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup semi-final proved that there is still some fight left in Antonio Conte’s men. The Blues had been on a bit of a downward slump of form, losing two games out of four but showed just why they’re favourites to win the league this season.
However, the win wasn’t a dominating one, at least from a possession and chances created perspective. Spurs dominated in both fronts, meaning Chelsea were on the back foot for long stretches of the match. This required them to remain focused at all times and do some good defending.
One such instance was when Nathan Ake had to take on Dele Alli. The young Dutchman was handed a surprise start due to the absence of Gary Cahill and showed just why the manager rates him so highly, launching into a tackle from behind on Alli inside the penalty area yet pulling it off to absolute perfection.
