The approaching Manchester derby could not have come at a better time for Manchester United, who have been in solid form lately. Wins over potential champions Chelsea and Burnley have set them up in a position to overtake their noisy neighbours should Jose Mourinho’s men get all three points.
The one worrisome aspect is the number of injury issues the club are currently dealing with. Aside from having Marcos Rojo, Juan Mata and Zlatan Ibrahimovic out for the long term, they also have Ander Herrera, Paul Pogba, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones dealing with niggles. That is where the bad news ends.
The form of players like Marcus Rashford, who’s playing more centrally now along with Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard could form deadly trifecta that could ruin the City defence.
Should Mourinho set up his team to defend well, there should be no reason why they can’t get a positive result in this game.
