This Celtic kit for next season doing the rounds on the internet would be a great tribute to the Lions (Photo)

It was exactly 50 years ago that Celtic’s all-conquering side famously won the European Cup with a 2-1 victory over Inter Milan at the Estadio Nacional in Lisbon. That win firmly etched Celtic into the history books with the 15 man squad famously coming to known as the Lisbon Lions.

To commemorate one of their greatest victories in their history, Celtic have announced that next season’s kit will pay big homage to the famous triumph of 1967.

This has naturally led many to speculate as to the possible design of the new Celtic kit to be made by kit manufacturers New Balance. While no official announcement has been made of yet, one design has been particularly making news on social media.

The purported design while having the same white-green strip bears a striking resemblance to the 1967 kit with regards to the hue and contrast of the green strip.

While not being official, the design has caught the attention of the web mongers ahead of the possible kit launch on May 4.

Looks like an absolute cracker, check out the design (via @Lpoolemeraldcsc)making news below:

  1. I love it. It has everything I would want of a Celtic home strip. It stands alone on merit and as a tribute to Lisbon 67. I could see it doing very well for the older and younger fan. If this is it great!
