Following a weekend where both Manchester clubs sustained damaging draws in the race for the Champions League spots, Liverpool FC took a massive stride of their own in qualifying for Europe’s elite competition with a 1-0 victory over Watford on Monday.
In a match which saw both teams toil for much of the 90 minutes in terms of producing quality football, a genuine moment of brilliance from Liverpool midfielder Emre Can proved the difference between the two sides.
The German international better known for his defensive work rather than his contributions upfront popped up with a belter of a goal; a stupendous looping overhead kick in the additional minutes of the first half to give Liverpool the crucial lead going into the break.
Aside from the unwordly strike which will have instantly endeared Can to the Kop faithful, the German was also spotted putting Watford midfielder Tom Cleverly in place with a superb body feint to leave the Everton loanee grounded on the floor.
Given Cleverly’s association with Manchester United, Can’s actions will surely have been a sight to savour for the LFC fans. Check out the skills from Emre below –
