Pic: Someone rocked up to Real Madrid’s Liga celebrations donning a Newcastle United shirt last night

It would be safe to say that a big club like Real Madrid has a large fan-base spanning a large number of countries, and a specimen of that claim was on display last night.

After Madrid won the La Liga title with a 2-0 win over Malaga, fans inevitably stormed the city’s Cibeles area, waiting to welcome their heroes with resounding celebrations.

One of the members in the large sea of white, though, stood out for his black stripes. He was wearing a Newcastle United jersey brandishing former midfielder David Batty’s name and squad number at the back.

Batty is remembered by many fans as a reliable midfielder who played from 1996-1998, which were some of the best years for the club.
