Virgil Van Djik has been arguably the Premier League’s best centre-back this season. 2.67 interceptions per game, 0.67 blocks per game and 6.67 clearances per game surely tell the tale of a world class defender.
And as it so often happens, the Premier League’s big fishes have made their interests known in the Dutchman. In spite of being down with an ankle injury since March, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool are all believed to harbour ambitions of bringing the Southampton defender to their respective clubs.
However, with fresh TV money in their coffers and a determination to lose the emblem of a ‘selling club’, Southampton are holding out for a fee in the north of £50 million to keep hold of their star player.
Being in a transfer tussle with the likes of City & Chelsea is not ideal and Liverpool will need all the help they can get. And some outside help has come in the form of renowned FIFA YouTuber Manny, who met Van Djik today and urged him to sign for his beloved Liverpool.
