It has been quite a juxtaposition of good and bad for Leeds United this past season. On the positive, they have finished with their best league position in 7 seasons, they have the Championship’s top scorer in Chris Wood and they have a well-balanced squad in general.
On the negative side of things, they missed the Championship playoffs due to their own inconsistencies towards the end along with the ugly break-up with manager Garry Monk.
Another positive has been the performance of Pontus Jansson. The Swede has been one of Championship’s best defenders last season by averaging 1.73 interceptions, 1.27 blocks and 10.33 clearances respectively on an average, per game.
But with good performances, come the transfer rumors. Pontus had agreed a contract till 2020 back in February, but that wasn’t going to silence the rumor mills.
So, it seems the player took it upon himself to make things clear last night on Twitter.
The tweet now deleted, referred to an article which talked about Jansson staying at Elland Road despite interest from other clubs.
