Wayne Rooney is on the verge of joining Everton after being given the green signal by Manchester United to leave the club on a free transfer. Rooney, who started his career at Everton, is expected to return to Goodison Park after 13 years.
It has been a very busy transfer window for the blue half of Merseyside as they have landed up signing exciting players like Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Davy Klaasen, Henry Onyekuru and now their former poster boy Wayne Rooney in all likelihood.
The Toffees faced a nasty dig by their arch rivals – Liverpool fans when they were flaunting their new boy Mohamed Salah. It was a comparision between the number of Mo Salah’s and Everton’s followers and highlighted how Salah is bigger than Everton in terms of followers on both Instagram and Twitter.
Everton fans have now hit back in a similar fashion as Rooney’s imminent transfer means that they will be signing a player who has 14.8million followers on Twitter – around double the number of followers Liverpool has.
