There’s surely no better way to kick start your career in a new team than scoring a hat-trick on your official debut, and Leeds United’s new boy Samu Saiz can proudly strike this wish off his bucket list.
The Spanish forward was instrumental in his side’s comprehensive 4-1 victory against League Two side Port Vale in the EFL cup first round. Fellow debutant Caled Ekuban also featured on the score sheet.
Samu was caught up in a bit of controversy after Port Vale manager Michael Brown accused the hat-trick hero of spitting in the face of one of his players, but the squabble will barely affect the fans feelings for the ex-Huesca man after he was seen doing the Leeds salute when addressing the fans after the match ended.
Samu received a standing ovation for his outstanding performance, and it looks like he has already cemented his place in every supporter’s heart.
The Leeds fans have had an amazing summer, all thanks to their charismatic owner Andrea Radrizzani for the solid signings and the repurchase of the Elland Road home.
The fans will hope that Samu will continue to perform well and help the team reach new heights. Check out the video of him doing the Leeds salute below –
