Leeds managed to maintain their unbeaten start to the season with a hard-fought goalless draw against Fulham at Elland Road last evening.
For manager Thomas Christiansen, the battle had begun even before the game kicked off, as regular centre-back Liam Cooper had to be left out due to injury concerns.
Left with no other choice, the boss was forced to make do with 21-year old Conor Shaughnessy, who had never held a place in the Leeds starting lineup before.
But, the Irishman did not let his manager down. For an inexperienced youngster, Shaughnessy stepped up to deliver a mature performance with brilliant presence of mind against strong Fulham strikers.
A prime example of this was a moment during the game when the player made a brilliant last-moment lunge against Neeskens Kebano, who was about to strike at the Leeds goal from close range.
Shaughnessy would be happy to know that his effort received resounding approval from his defensive partner Pontus Jansson as well.
