After a 5-0 victory against Astana at Celtic park in the first leg of the Champions League playoff, the Hoops must’ve thought that the return leg in Kazakhstan will be trouble-free.
But contrary to Celtic’s expectations, the Kazakhstan Premier League champions actually put up a very brave show at Astana park.
It was 1-1 at half time and an inspired Astana went on to score 3 more goals in quick succession in the second half. They needed to score 3 more goals in 20 minutes without a reply to pull off the impossible.
It was all going according to the plan for the Kazakh side until Celtic’s new signing Olivier Ntcham struck home on the 80th minute to spoil the party.
Everyone in the Celtic camp took a sigh of relief, but it looked like assistant manager Chris Davies, who was seated right beside Rodgers, got a bit too carried away as he could be seen jumping from his seat and punching the air whilst shouting on top of his voice after Ntcham scored the all-important goal.
