Despite not having the natural flair and elegance associated with most wingers, Newcastle United winger Matt Ritchie has always more than made up for the lack of it with his sheer determination and application to the team’s cause.
It was evident yet again as Ritchie put in a man of the match performance in Newcastle’s 2-1 win over Stoke City on Saturday. But while Ritchie delivered both the assists on the evening to help Newcastle secure their third successive victory, it was his childlike antics during his own corner that became the talk of the town.
Having delivered the cross into the box, Ritchie was seen tracking the ball all the way to the box and then jumping and planting an imaginary header into the goal mimicking the actions of captain Jamaal Lascelles who actually scored the real goal.
