With an impressive return of 23 points from the opening 9 fixtures, a record bettered only by Celtic’s superior goal difference, Aberdeen looked the part of being genuine challengers to Celtic’s domestic dominance this season.
But fast forward to yesterday and Aberdeen’s title aspirations were all but swiftly ended as Celtic dished out a brutal reminder of their superiority with a 3-0 win at Pittodrie.
The dominating performance by the current champions left little to none in doubt of the gulf in class between Celtic and the rest of the league. Celtic’s dominance was such that even Aberdeen legend Willie Miller acknowledged the superiority of Brendan Rodgers’ men on his BBC analysis of the match.
While plaudits may have rained in for Celtic following the convincing win, the praise coming from Miller, a legend of the game in opposition colors was perhaps the biggest plaudit that Celtic could receive for their performance on Thursday.
