After a drab first half display, Arsenal stormed back in the final forty-five minutes to emerge 2-1 winners against Newcastle United on Saturday, handing manager Unai Emery a third successive Premier League victory.
And it was the man fans love to hate, Granit Xhaka, who ran the show for the Gunners, sprinkling some incisive passes all over the pitch. Lucas Torreira’s introduction after the break seemed to have given Xhaka the license to surge forward and display the kind of magic he’s capable of.
The Swiss international surely deserves credit for managing to galvanize his team, having opened the scoring with a thumping free-kick before going on to provide the cross that led to Mesut Ozil scoring the second from a rebound.
While celebrating the second goal, the 25 year-old’s contribution was acknowledged by Ozil as he pointed his finger in Xhaka’s direction in order to let everyone know exactly who deserved the credit.
The season that started with two consecutive losses for Arsenal appears to be turning around on the back of some impressive camaraderie on display among the teammates, who look pretty chuffed with each other’s success.
Check out the much maligned Xhaka being appreciated by the German star:
