Liverpool started off their Champions League campaign in fabulous fashion edging out French giants Paris Saint-Germain 3-2 in a thriller at Anfield.
After Liverpool went 2-0 up and squandered several opportunities to put the game to bed, PSG came out of the blocks towards the end of the first half and got a goal through Thomas Meunier. When PSG’s teenage sensation Mbappe struck in the 83rd minute to level the game at 2-2, PSG players and fans must have thought they had done enough to earn a point.
However, Roberto Firmino who came on as a substitute, scored a fantastic individual goal in stoppage time to send Liverpool fans into a absolute ecstasy. The PSG players and fans seemed shell-shocked at Liverpool’s winner, none more so than Mbappe.
Check out the French superstar’s expression after Firmino’s winner, as the Liverpool fans go ballistic in the background:
It was a great result for the Reds in what was yet another fantastic European night at Anfield. Liverpool fans who suffered the agony of losing out in the final step of last year’s competition, will be hoping they can go one better this time around.
