Tottenham started off their Champions League campaign in disappointing fashion as they were beaten 2-1 by Inter Milan at the San Siro.

After a scrappy first half, Spurs were the much better side in the second half and took the lead in the 53rd minute courtesy of a deflected strike from Christian Eriksen. That is how the score remained till the last five minutes of the game as the Lilywhites squandered several chances to score the second.

However, after Inter decided to throw the kitchen sink at Tottenham in the last few minutes of the game, the away side crumbled and let in two late goals.

Former Tottenham player and manager Glenn Hoddle who was analyzing the game for BT Sport, was in a visibly angry mood after the game and certainly didn’t mince words while criticising the players.

Hoddle pointed the finger at the lack of leadership within the Tottenham team and explained why players on the field can’t always leave it to the manager to make adjustments during the final minutes of the game.

Watch Hoddle’s passionate critique of his old club’s performance:

Spurs fans will certainly recognize that the 60-year-old’s points have merit. They will be hoping Pochettino will be able to resolve the issue soon so that their season does not get entirely derailed.
