A solitary strike from Erik Lamela in the first half was enough for Tottenham to get the better of London rivals West Ham United and continue their best ever start to a Premier League season.
Even though it was a tight affair, there were still a few moments when the combative Hammers’ defence – comfortable for most of the game – found the attacking threat posed by Spurs too hot to handle.
One of those moments of quality was provided by the visitors’ pacy winger Lucas Moura, who’s been enjoying a fine start to the season.
The Brazilian went on a breathtaking run from deep into his own half as opposition players tried desperately and unsuccessfully to chase after him, before passing to Lamela on the left at the edge of the box.
The 26-year-old has been impressive with his pace and ball retention, and Spurs fans would have been pleased to see another energetic display from him.
