There was a time few years ago when Zeli Ismail, still in his teens, was tipped to be football’s first £100 million player.
Such was his special talent that big Premier League clubs were rumored to have tabled offers for the Wolves youth academy product when he was just 14.
Unfortunately, the early promise failed to materialize into performances and the now 24-year-old currently plies his trade in League One with Walsall after having enjoyed loan spells with Burton, MK Dons, Notts County, Cambridge and Oxford.
However, while participating in the Saddlers’ match against Fleetwood yesterday, Ismail managed to grab the headlines, this time for his association with Tottenham sensation Dele Alli, who was his teammate at MK Dons in 2012-13.
Yes, that was exactly how the broadcaster decided to inform viewers about him when the former Wolves player’s name appeared on the screen, as Alli’s teammate!
