Everton goalkeeper serves a reminder of his all round ability
Everton kicked off their Europa League campaign with a brilliant 2-0 win over HKN Hajduk Split in playoff first leg last night. Keeping a clean sheet, Jordan Pickford was a spectator for most parts of the match with his team dominating proceedings throughout.
However, the former Sunderland man showcased his supreme passing ability while aiding his side’s attacking endeavours during a moment in the game.
Collecting a loose ball, the goalie quickly launched a counter attack with his this stunning cross-field pass towards the right wing.
The sight of their new man between the sticks, launching a counter attack like that will go a long way in justifying the price tag for the Toffees.
Pickford, who kept his second successive clean sheet has been a revelation since his arrival. Earmarked to replace Joe Hart in national neam colours, England would be getting a left footed wizard in between the sticks.

Frenchman’s vision is a thing of beauty
Olivier Ntcham had already generated quite a stir last season at Genoa, producing performances that were way beyond his age. The Frenchman continued this trend for his new side Celtic as he pinged an absolute peach of a cross-field pass to Leigh Griffiths, leading to a goal in their win against FC Astana.
The Scottish Champions hosted the Kazakhstan side in their Champions League group stage qualifier first leg. The match proved to be a one sided contest with a 5-0 scoreline in favour of the home side.
Celtic have never been able to completely fill the void left by Victor Wanyama, since his move to Southampton. However, the fans will be delighted to see the potential in their new man.

Red Devils are speed devils
Thanks to the breathtaking speed on the counter which proved too much for the Hammers backline, Manchester United blitzed West Ham away 4-0 in their opening match of the 2017/18 season.
Marcus Rashford terrorized the opposing right-back at every opportunity, while Romelu Lukaku gave a glimpse of his prowess in front of the goal by scoring a brace.
This graphic released by Sportsmail highlighted United’s pace in attack with 3 players featuring in the top speed merchants of the Premier League opening day.
It was no surprise to see Rashford and Lukaku make the top seeds joined by Paul Pogba, who himself ran the show from the centre of the park. A majestic display of strength and speed, the Frenchman clocked a top speed of 21.5 mph.
A kind of performance which can strike fear in the hearts of their opponents, the Red Devil fans are surely in for some outstanding counter attacking football this season.

Debuting in the Champions League, Liverpool right back Trent Alexander-Arnold curled home a brilliant free-kick to give Liverpool a priceless away goal versus Hoffenheim on Wednesday.
What followed was a slew of emotions having scored for his boyhood club.
His brother joined in the celebrations from the stands, clearly underlining how much it meant to them, as the last person to achieve a similar feat for the Reds was the legendary Steven Gerrard.
Liverpool have struggled to find a set-piece taker other than Philippe Coutinho in their ranks.
However after witnessing Trent’s ability last night, the Kop will surely be buzzing at their prospect’s potential.
For now, the young prodigy will have to compete with Nathaniel Clyne for a starting spot, but it is safe to say the full-back is one for the future for Liverpool as well as England.

So much for the rivalry
Spurs forward Vincent Janssen was spotted checking out a Chelsea outfit at the Niketown store in London recently and the Dutch forward couldn’t have picked a worse moment, with Spurs set to face the Blues this coming weekend.
Janssen, who failed to nail down a starting berth at White Hart Lane last season, will once again be deputising for Harry Kane this time around.
Having a prolific record for the Netherlands, the Tottenham number 9 has been criticised for his poor output in the Premier League.
The sight of one of their own promoting rival merchandise will not go down well with the COYS faithful. Particularly after last season’s FA Cup semi-final defeat at the hands of their old rivals. Furthermore the rise of Spurs as one of best teams in England has raised the stakes even more.

The release date of FIFA 18 can’t come any sooner for the franchise fanatics with pre-orders crossing all limits. EA has been promoting the game through image releases and gameplay teasers.
One picture in particular, highlighting Olivier Giroud’s beard has been doing the rounds online. Strangely enough, the usually attractive attacker looks bloated in game.
Electronic Arts has spent a fortune in player details and traits study, yet the new edition seems to be lacking, with Olivier Giroud looking much more like Leonidas from the movie 300.
A month to go till the official release, EA might have to revise the final product once again before the final copies are sold.
FIFA is popular due to its original copyrighted content but it seems not all features are up to the mark. Keeping up with the ever changing styles of football stars has been a headache for the organisation with regular roster and DLC updates to fix issues.

The Frenchman is a midfield mean machine
Paul Pogba issued a statement of intent with his commanding performance against West Ham United on Sunday. Manchester United emerged victorious in a one-sided encounter which was largely due to the brilliance of their midfield man.
His ability to dribble and carry the ball forward was on full display as he left a barrage of claret and blue shirts in his wake. Swiveling across the covering defender, Pogba used his big frame to control the ball and then dinked past the onrushing marker to continue the attack for the Red Devils.
The former Juventus man has come under intense pressure to perform this season after his big money move. Last season’s sixth place finish doesn’t do justice to the talents of the once FIFA Golden Boy.
However, the United number 6 has started this season with a bang and looks certain to carry on his good form into the Champions League as well.

Chilean gives a subtle blow to the transfer merry-go-round
Relentlessly linked with a move away from the Emirates, Alexis Sanchez has been speculated to have grown frustrated with the prospect of having no Champions League action this season. A host of clubs have registered their interest in his signature, including Bayern Munich, Manchester City and PSG.
However, the fan favourite sidelined all the rumours by liking a post related to Arsenal. The post which describes his shuttle in emotions during Arsenal’s match against Leicester City, was liked by the winger on Instagram.
Perhaps a sound assumption can be made that Arsenal’s highest goal scorer from last season will be staying with them.
A lethal finisher, Sanchez has been one of the most consistent goal scorer in Arsene Wenger’s armoury. The Chilean is extremely pacy and brings a high work rate on the table for the Gunners.
The Premier League is going to be the biggest prize on offer for the London club this season. If they are going to come anywhere near competing for the title, keeping Sanchez at the club has to be one their top most priority.
For now Gooners can breathe a sigh of relief, with his social media activity showing positive signs. Check out the screenshot (via @daniel_jhb) below –
Matic is a man on mission
The giant midfielder embarked on a superlative run to leave the West Ham players in his wake. Sliding the ball on to his right, Matic took a touch to go beyond two players and completed the dribble with a quick shimmy past the third. All in all it was one of the highlights of the game, which Manchester United dominated throughout.
Much of it came through their new man from Chelsea, who dictated proceedings from the middle of the park. Spraying passes and recycling possession, the Bosnian proved too much for the Hammers.
An attacking midfielder in his younger days, Nemanja Matic might have a lot more in his locker than what has been made of him.
Certainly for the Red Devils, they have got a bargain with a potential to become one of the greatest holding midfielders of the game. At 6’3″ he is adept at dealing with the physical nature of the Premier League and if opening day is anything to go buy, the former Benfica Player of the Season has got the skills to complement it.

Everton have an English prospect on their hands
The former Sunderland man showed his shot stopping skills, to deny Xherdan Shaqiri from range. The Swiss international who is known for possessing a rasping drive, let fly from distance only to see his shot being deflected at the last moment by the impressive Pickford.
Certain sections of the fans raised their eyebrows when Everton shelled out €30 million on their new goalkeeper. However nobody seems to care now after witnessing his world class performance against Stoke City.
Always going to be a tough fixture for the Toffees, Pickford produced a stunning save to ensure a marginal 1-0 victory for his team on the opening day.
Everton have invested heavily in their squad this summer, boasting a transformed starting lineup from last season. With all the spotlight on Wayne Rooney’s return to his hometown, Jordan Pickford gave an assured response to any lingering critics of his big money move.
For now it is safe to bet that the blue half of Merseyside have got a gem on their hands. Check out the save from Pickford below –
