Liverpool accomplished a thrilling win over league leaders Manchester City as the Reds gegenpresed Pep Guardiola’s side out of the game at Anfield yesterday.
And at the heart of their pressing, quite surprisingly, was young left-back Andrew Robertson.
The new signing unlocked cult status with the Liverpool faithful when he went on a mad pressing spree which saw him hound 4 City players during a moment in the game.
A sensational moment, made even more sensational by this Swedish commentary of Niklas Holmgren –
Sportswear giants Nike, who became Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur’s official kit supplier from this season, have gone for a rather bold and unique look for the home kit next season.
Bound to divide opinions big time, the shirt would feature a gradient design, fading towards dark blue at the bottom and would be worn along with dark blue shorts and white socks.
The shield around the logo (seen on the current kits) will also disappear, check out the leaked image of Spurs’ home kit for next season below –
Liverpool had tried hard to secure the services of Virgil van Dijk in the summer transfer window, but a hard stance from Southampton halted any progress.
But followers remain persistent to see the player at Anfield. And recently, a fan pleaded owner John W. Henry during a baseball match in Boston to sign the Dutchman in January. Liverpool fans will be hoping the words didn’t fall on deaf ears.
Liverpool’s defense has been criticised time and again and the fans’ desire to have Van Dijk seem reasonable to say the least.
Henry might be on a whole other continent but escaping ‘sign Van Dijk’ requests appears to be difficult. Check out the video below –
Sead Kolasinac fired in a sumptuous volley to equalise for Arsenal against Koln in the Europa League last night.
And while celebrating the goal, the Bosnian lifted his jersey to exhibit a Schalke tee. It seemed like a deliberate attempt to savage Koln fans, a Bundesliga rival of Schalke.
The muscular defender played for Schalke for 6 years and showed his love for his previous employers with the celebration.
Kolasinac made a name for himself during his time in Schalke and moved to Arsenal for free this summer. Check out the picture (via @JochenStutzky) of him showing off his Schalke shirt below –
Luke Ayling awed the spectators at Elland Road after pulling off a stunning goal-line clearance during the 2-0 win against Birmingham City.
Leeds, leading 1-0, were looking all set to take the lead into the dressing room at half-time. But a well constructed move by Birmingham City in extra time almost brought them level.
Maxime Colin somehow managed to head the ball past the charging Leeds keeper. But, an agile Luke Ayling showed brilliant awareness and skill to prevent the ball from crossing the line.
It was a spectacular effort by the Englishman in a crucial match for his side. Check it out below –
Gary Cahill has been at the heart of the Chelsea defense ever since his move back in 2012. While the Chelsea hierarchy love him, the centre-back has had a hard time convincing the fans.
Nevertheless, the Englishman has had a glittering career at Chelsea. He’s already won the Champions League, Europa League, Premier League on 2 occasions and the FA Cup & the League cup.
And his services were honored by his admirers when they showed up with a banner that stated ‘Cahill, he’s won it all’ during the 6-0 thrashing of Qarabag midweek.
