Arsenal’s New Recruits Making Any Difference or Is It Just RVP?

A look back at Arsenal’s summer shopping and how much impact has it really made. Analysis of the completed transfers made by Arsenal in the Summer of 2011.

Lets start this by naming out all the players Arsenal had bought during the summer transfer window of 2011.

1) Mikel Arteta

2) Yossi Benayoun

3) Per Mertesacker

4) Andre Santos

5) Carl Jenkinson

6) Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

7) Park Chu-Young

8) Gervinho

Total of 8 player bought from different clubs and a lot of variety in the overall transfer window. There has been a lot of criticism against Arsene Wenger for not buying players. This should seriously shut everyone of those people up.

Out of the eight players Park Chu-Young, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain  & Carl Jenkinson haven’t had that much playtime to scrutinize them. The players who have got most appearances in Premier League & Champions League have been Gervinho, Areta, Santos & Mertesacker. And to some extent Yossi Benayoun too.

Mertesacker has had total of 13 appearances for gunners till now and the German center back has done his job. He might not have been super awesome but he has done all the ugly things a center back is supposed to do. Andre Santos has had 11 appearances and has scored 2 goals. To be honest, with Gibbs fit, Arsenal will do well with both of the left backs. As Santos is pretty good going forward whereas Kieran Gibbs has good overall game.

Mikel Arteta and Gervinho has made most of the impact as expected. Arteta, from his Everton days, has always been a no nonsense midfielder and exactly what the ailing Arsenal side needed. Gervinho, a flashy center forward, has assisted Robin Van Persie as much as he could.

Arteta has had 14 appearances with 2 goals to his name. Whereas Gervinho has had 15 appearances with two goals but he has assisted Van Persie with good assists which has resulted in goals.

Yossi Benayoun with 9 appearances has scored one goal. But Arsene Wenger has substituted Yossi at crucial points in the game, which shows he manager has a plan with the Israeli.

All the above mentioned players have supported the team well which has resulted Robin Van Persie scoring goals in an inhuman rate.

So, in a way, the decisions made by Arsene Wenger in the summer transfer window have been good. Nothing spectacular but very effective indeed.

Manchester City Striker Carlos Tevez to Sign for AC Milan in Jan?

AC Milan and Carlos Tevez’s agent Kia Joorabchian are in talks to make a January move for Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez.

According to BBC, it has been reported that AC Milan, the Italian giants, are already in talks with Carlos Tevez’a agent for a possible move in the January transfer window. The club hasn’t spoken to the player directly but they have met his agent in Milan.

Other Italian clubs such as Juventus and Inter Milan has also expressed their desire to sign the Argentine striker.

As reported earlier Carlos Tevez was done at his club Manchester City according to manager Roberto Mancini. Mancini made the statement after Carlos Tevez refused to come out against Bayern Munich in the Champions League fixture.

And if City’s transfer policies are believed the striker will probably go to a different country as City has always been hesitant to give their players to the Premier League clubs.

Of course, the transfer can only go through id AC Milan meet the evaluation of the player done by Manchester City. The amount is believed to be in excess of 40 million pounds.

AC Milan are in the search of a striker after Antonio Cassano was diagnosed with a heart problem.

Liverpool to Lure Eden Hazard from Lille using Joe Cole

Liverpool can use Joe Cole in their attempt to grab Eden Hazard from Lille.

As everyone knows Joe Cole is enjoying life at Lille, with the pace of French league suiting the Englishman. Even so that Joe Cole himself has said that he would like to make a permanent move to the French side. Now this could turn to very fruitful as clearly Cole is not wanted by the Anfield side. And if Joe Cole strike a permanent deal with Lille then Liverpool could use it to swap Eden Hazard from Lille.

Hazard a hot commodity in Football world is wanted by lot of big clubs in Europe with Real Madrid and Arsenal keeping an eye on the Belgian footballer.

Hazard is valued at in excess of 30 million pounds by the French side and Liverpool will be unwilling to dash out such money on a young talent. So there best bet is to use Joe Cole in the deal and lower the price down.
