Balotelli powers Italy to a 2-1 win over Mexico in the Confederations Cup

Estadio Jornalista Mário Filho (Maracanã), Rio de Janeiro | 16 Jun 13 | 2013 Confederations Cup, Group A

Mexico 1-2 Italy

Andrea Pirlo curled in one of his trademark free kick as Italy took the lead in the first half which was negated by Javier Hernandez 7 minutes later when Barzagli fouled Dos Santos inside the box. It was then left to Mario Balotelli, who muscled past two Mexican defenders and shot the winner on the 78th minute of the game.

The loss turned out to be the first official one for Mexico in two and a half years. In all fairness, Italy were the much dominant side throughout the game.
