Antonio Conte’s decision to revert to a back three has proven to be something of a masterstroke for Chelsea given their current run of form in the league.
The Blues currently sit fourth in the league table on the back of a four match winning streak in the league. Pivotal to these excellent performances has been the form of Hazard and co in attack and the
equally impressive trio of Luiz, Azpilicueta and Cahill in defence.
Azpilicueta in particular has been outstanding in a defence that has shipped zero goals in the last four games.
The tweak in formation seems to have brought out the best of the ball playing qualities in the defender who has made a total of total of 238 passes in the last four games; add to that the fact that 105 of those passes were made in the opposition half just goes to show how much influential the defender has been in Chelsea’s build up play.
