Liverpool successfully navigated a tricky fixture against Leeds to get into the Semifinals of the League Cup last night. The Championship club proved to be a strong opposition, even outplaying the Reds at times, but Liverpool had enough class on the pitch to see them off.
Divock Origi scored the opener in the 75th minute, following nervy periods where Leeds threatened to punish Liverpool for their spells of indecision. 17-year-old Ben Woodburn then secured the win with a goal just six minutes later, becoming the youngest goalscorer for the Merseyside club in the process.
The Reds’ have always been known for their tenacity and spirit under Jurgen Klopp, and it was this camaraderie that was displayed as Woodburn sealed the win.
Team Vice-captain James Milner was seen pumping his fist in a primal fashion and then went on to hug the coaches in a display of the passion.
