Leeds infused yet another fresh lease of life into their promotion hopes with a 3-1 win over Birmingham City at St. Andrew’s yesterday.
It was not really surprising to see Chris Wood bank on his sublime form against his former club to extend his position as the Championship’s top scorer with a goal in each half.
Birmingham managed to pull off an equalizer courtesy of Craig Gardner, but that clearly wasn’t enough as Wood’s brace coupled with Pedraza’s late winner sealed the game for Gary Monk’s side.
Several close chances for Birmingham could have tilted the game in their favour had they not been missed, but since they were, Gianfranco Zola’s unlucky side had to fight with their backs to the wall.
And speaking of backs, Pontus Jansson once again emerged as the symbol of sheer commitment for side by going down low and using his back to block a hard strike by a Birmingham player, the video of which can be seen below.
