Next stop: First-team football
Philippe Coutinho showed that he’s still king when it comes to the Derby games with a stunning goal in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over rivals Everton, but a certain boy wonder might have even the Brazilian looking over his shoulder in time to come.
Winger Ryan Kent, on-loan from Liverpool at Barnsley, showed exactly why he’s being touted as one of many exciting talents in the Liverpool youth ranks with skills that would dazzle Premier League defenders, let alone the humble Sheffield Wednesday markers he chose to subject to humiliation.
Seemingly trapped on the left touch-line with little space to work in and closed down by two opponents, the 20 year old created a yard for himself with the kind of deft feet that even Cristiano Ronaldo would nod at in approval. Kent then launched on a run which saw him slice through the midfield and feed a team-mate who almost scored. Marvellous skills.
While his dribbling might remind viewers of another famous Ryan, Liverpool will surely be looking at this lad with an eye to see him tearing it up at Anfield soon.
