Clean as a whistle
Amidst the headline-grabbing act that Tottenham possess in the shape of Delle Alli and Harry Kane is a player who is as crucial to Spurs’ title challenge – Christian Eriksen.
His transfer to White Hart Lane from Ajax in 2013 was seen as quite the coup for the London club. The Dane has quietly established himself as a key part of the Tottenham set-up preferring to let his work on the field do the talking. Eriksen did, however, remind everyone that he has the skills to amaze at his disposal with a wicked piece of technique against Watford.
As the ball was headed clear by the defence from a corner, it fell in front of the playmaker who delightfully flicked it over his head and left the marker coming in from behind look ridiculously silly before threading an insane pass which somehow managed to find an advancing Jan Vertonghen. Sublime.
While the counter-attack created from that inventiveness didn’t lead to a goal, Spurs did blank the Hornets 4-0. But let’s not let the score-line be the only memory from this game as we bask in Eriksen’s genius.
