Philippe Coutinho Correia: remember the name.
When Liverpool signed the 24 year-old forward for £8.5 million in January 2013, a lot of fans had cast their doubts on his ability to live up to the club’s expectations.
After failing to establish himself as the future of Internazionale, a struggling Coutinho was made to do a loan stint in Espanyol before landing at Anfield, where things finally started looking good.
Four years down the line, the Brazilian has established himself as an integral part of manager Jurgen Klopp’s side, thanks to his superior ability to read the game and brilliance in scoring and assisting.
The player’s immense potential and growing importance at Merseyside has drawn praise not only from fans but from rivals as well, and that is exactly what happened recently when Chelsea legend Frank Lampard acknowledged Coutinho as one of the best in Europe.
Check out what Lampard had to say about Coutinho –
Coutinho is definitely a top player, a world class player.
He has gone from strength to strength. He’s gone into that top bracket now, and some big, big clubs in Europe wanted him.
But he’s just signed a new contract with Liverpool, and it was very important he did that because he’s a big player for them.
