Heung-Min Son’s move to Tottenham was viewed as a good acquisition but not really headline worthy. The ex-Leverkusen star quickly proved that he was definitely worth some attention as there was a point in time when he could not stop scoring. Son rediscovered some of that form as he drilled a brace past the Hornets and chased a hat trick.
Despite some great chances and even hitting the woodwork at one point, Son was unable to complete the feat as he was hauled off by Mauricio Pochettino.
While most players would be annoyed at being taken off with such a milestone within reach, Son showed plenty of maturity and character in the way he embraced his manager after coming off.
It is also a testament to the best of Pochettino – bringing out the best in his players and forging a bond of affection and respect. It’s the reason why Spurs are currently the only team with a realistic chance of catching Chelsea.
The Argentine will be hoping that his team can put together some more performances of the same calibre as they brace for the home stretch – you can be sure that it will be a united front from Tottenham.
