For all the abundance of quality and depth in the Newcastle team this season, one feature that has been a hallmark of Newcastle’s promotion push has been the unflattering team spirit and camaraderie in the squad.

This has obviously helped with regards to Benitez’s rotation policy and benefitted the whole squad in general. The excellent team spirit and the unrelenting commitment to the cause of the team was none more so evident than in the recent match against Leeds united where Newcastle were cruelly denied all three points in the dying minutes of the game.

While the result will have been hard to take for Newcastle, fans can nonetheless take delight in the manner in which their team flaunted their passion and commitment to the team. A picture of a fuming Rob Elliot (who was for the record a substitute for the match) venting out his frustrations after Chris Wood’s equalizer just about epitomises the intensity of the passion running through the Newcastle team.
