In what was described as ‘a horrendous decision’ by Brendan Rodgers, Scottish champions Celtic were pegged by a very disputable penalty awarded to Ross County in the penultimate stages of the game.
Celtic appeared to be coasting to yet another victory on Sunday following strikes from Kieran Tierney and Patrick Roberts but a controversial decision by referee Don Robertson towards the end of the second half saw Ross County awarded a penalty from which Liam Boyce duly converted to give the hosts a share of the spoils.
The decision to award the penalty came after Alex Schalk thew himself down in the penalty box under no contact from Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko.
Celtic players were visibly riled at the decision that cost them all three points on Sunday and made their frustrations known to the referee at the full time whistle. While Dan Robertson came under severe flak from the Celtic players, the linesman for the match knowing the grave consequences of the officiating errors quickly jumped boat as he expeditiously ran down the tunnel at the stroke of the full time.
