It is not at all surprising to see majority of the Premier League players voting for N’Golo Kante as their choice for the PFA Player of the Year award this season.
After winning the league title with Leicester City last term, the 26-year old has all the chances of achieving the same feat in a Blues shirt this time as well.
While the likes of Diego Costa and Eden Hazard displayed their usual brilliance every now and then, it is Kante who has been the main driving force behind Chelsea’s resurgence.
In 31 appearances this season, the French midfielder has completed more than 100 successful tackles, over 70 interceptions, and boasts of a massive pass rate averaging 89%.
Apart from carrying out his defensive duties with supreme composure, Kante has shown tremendous aggressiveness his opponents’ halves as well.
And as a specimen of the player’s fine attacking prowess, here’s a video of Kante masquerading Leo Messi during Chelsea’s 4-2 win over Southampton last night –
