When John Terry recently announced that he wouldn’t be renewing his contract with Chelsea at the end of the season, it was news that had many Blues fans feeling emotional. He was a key figure during their rise to the top of English football in the 2000’s which eventually saw him become the on of the greatest captains in the history of the Blues.
There’s also the fact that he was the last remnant of an era fondly remembered by the Stamford Bridge faithful, due to the departure of the likes of Didier Drogba, Petr Cech, Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard in previous years.
It is thus little wonder that his departure will get him a very special honour from Chelsea fans.
From now until the end of the season, Chelsea fans will not display banners for any other players at Stamford Bridge aside from those made for John Terry.

It is definitely a nice little way to say thank you to the man who for years was hailed as the club’s “captain, leader and legend”.
