League leaders Chelsea edged ever closer to a fifth Premier League title as they brushed aside Middlesbrough 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on Monday. The victory not only put Chelsea within touching distance of Premier League glory but also confirmed Middlesbrough’s relegation from the Premier League.
Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas was the pick of the players in the home side’s triumph as he turned up with a virtuoso performance in the middle of the pitch. Fabregas starring role involved him laying in an assist for Matic while also playing a huge part in the build up to Diego Costa’s opener.
Aside from the impressive performance on the pitch, Fabregas also made news off pitch when he got in a small argument with a Sky Sports presenter after the match.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the Spaniard was quick to correct presenter Dave Jones that he had registered 11 assist not 10, only to be told by Jones that one of his assists had been taken away owing to a huge deflection from Middlesbrough defender Fabio Silva.
The reaction from Fabregas was that of pure bemusement with the 30 year old refusing to believe the verdict given. Check out the video below –
