Thousands of boxing fans singing “Sign Garry Monk” at the First Direct Arena in Leeds last night (Video)

Leeds United put together one of their most impressive seasons in recent years as the Yorkshire club remained in the mix for promotion for much of the season.

It was only a late collapse towards the end that saw them heart-breakingly miss out on the play-off spots.

Despite the late season capitulation, it does little to take off the shine from a season in which the team truly grew in leaps and bounds.

Fans have been quick to note the progress that the team has achieved under the tutelage of young manager Garry Monk. Despite the overwhelming popularity of Monk among the Leeds masses, Leeds fan have so far been made to sweat with regards to the future of their manager who was signed on a one year rolling contract last year.

With no official announcement from the club, the fans remain apprehensive over the intentions of new co-owner Andrea Radrizzani and have on more than one occasion urged the Italian businessman to sign Monk.

That was the case again yesterday at the First Direct Arena hosting the fights of local boxing stars Josh Warrington and Nicola Adams. Despite gathering for the boxing bout, fans made sure to voice their concerns over the future of their manager.
