The turn of the millennia saw Leeds United degenerate to a position that they were not familiar with. If relegation from the EPL and subsequent administration was not bad enough, they had to suffer further humiliation when they went down to League 1 (third tier).
They, however displayed grit and earned a promotion back to the Championship but only languished in mid-table for much of the second decade of the millennia till the 2016/17 season.
Last season was truly their season of ascendancy as they managed to be in the play-offs contention for much of the season only to miss it by a whisker at the end. However the positives outweighed the negatives for a change.
They had the League’s top scorer in Chris Wood and had managed to sign tough-tackling Pontus Jansson. In Garry Monk, they had a manager that the players respected.
However, things took a wrong turn when Garry Monk resigned with looming interest from newly-relegated Middlesbrough.
While the players prepare in their own way, the board is doing its best to find a worthy replacement. And can the fans stay far behind?
One fan got too enthusiastic and submitted his CV to Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani. Needless to say, Radrizzani shot him down. Hopefully Radrizanni’s ‘polite’ refusal must have made the fan see the funny side of it.
Check out the response from Radrizanni below –
🙂 we got some better options…with all respect
