The way a huge club like Manchester United and its many fans organized a testimonial match for one of its longest-serving players just goes on to show how important he has been to his team’s history.
Michael Carrick was officially accorded the status of a club hero during his star-studded testimonial match comprising of Champions League winners, Ballon d’Or winners and legendary managers at the Old Trafford last Sunday.
With 459 games over the course of eleven years that included every major domestic and continental title that can be won, Carrick’s credentials as a Red Devil speak for themselves.
With achievements as tall as these, one would often wonder what would have been childhood inspiration for the midfielder himself. And the question was finally answered during Sunday’s game.
A video made for the player’s testimonial shows a young Carrick showing off his room with a Glasgow Rangers poster adorned on the wall.
