Tottenham Hotspur look to have already begun their task of strengthening the squad for yet another Premier League assault. Just like any other club, the Lillywhites too have a shopping wish-list for the summer, but it appears one of their target, reportedly a winger, has more qualities that of a midfielder.
Vincent Marcel, a 20-year old Nice winger, is supposedly a primary target for the North London outfit. And it’s safe to say that he’s an unknown quantity from the lack of videos on YouTube and his absence from FUT17.
However a video of him while in action for the Ligue 1 side, had been doing the rounds which speaks a lot about his midfield qualities instead.
Marcel could be seen dribbling and laying crosses across to his team-mates, whilst also trying to open up spaces for them to run-in. Once can evidently deduce from the short clip is that the French international is a workhorse, a constant worker both with the ball and off it.
Having played only 231 minutes in the league last season, Marcel operated as a right winger, left attacking midfielder and central midfielder, but it was in the latter that he excelled the most and also earned the highest rating at WhoScored as compared all other positions.
Whilst goals and assists do not seem to be his attributes, constant recycling and relentless distribution of the ball is where he thrives. A pass success percentage of 92.3% only adds substance to that.
Though to be a winger, Marcel is turning out to be a proficient midfielder, and possesses qualities that Moussa Dembele, Tottenham’s unsung midfielder, normally exhibits in his play.
Vincent Marcel can be an excellent back-up to him. Check out the clip below –
