Rangers’ new signing Bruno Alves was in action for Portugal against Chile in the Confederations Cup semifinal last night in Kazan and it was a great chance for Rangers supporters to see their new player perform.
It was always going to be a tough task coming up against world class players like Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez, but Bruno proved his mettle and helped his nation maintain a clean sheet.
Despite Portugal’s defeat, thanks to Claudio Bravo’s goalkeeping heroics in the penalty shootout, the Portugese center half gained some new admirers after a stern defensive performance and earned a lot of appreciation from Rangers fans on Twitter.
Bruno Alves, 35, joined Scottish side Rangers from Cagliari on a two year contract. The ex Fenerbache man said he is hungry for more titles and feels Rangers will be the right place for him.
Alves has been criticised by rival fans and pundits who claim that the Portugese is now ‘too old’ as he approaches 36, but the performance last night was surely enough to silence his doubters.
