Leeds United fans were given the most pleasing surprise after the club announced procurement of Elland Road yesterday. The moment came nearly 13 years after they were forced to sell it off to reduce the club’s debt.
The Whites lost their status of a Premier League club getting relegated to the 2nd Division in the 2004 campaign following which they decided to sell the ground on a leaseback deal.
Leeds United’s official Twitter account posted a brilliant montage of Elland Road with the tag #TheOnlyPlaceForUs to announce the repurchase and the video undoubtedly has the perfect blend of nostalgia, hard work and glory – enough to send the fan’s into a state of euphoria and hope for a better future.
Many previous owners talked about buying back the iconic stadium but none of them delivered. Ultimately, it was Andrea Radrizzani who made it happen.
Besides the reunion of the club and this historic stadium, this deal will also help Leeds in reducing there expenditures and redirecting money towards the youth academy and senior squad.
