It was surely a dream come true for Anthony Martial when he signed for United, but the sheer pressure of being the most expensive teenager in the history of football was more than enough to dampen his spirit and turn him into an eventual flop.

The rival fans were mocking United for paying too much, whereas the supporters were praying to the football gods to let Martial reach his full potential in a United kit.

D-Day arrived on 12th September, 2015 when the French youngster came on at the 65th minute against Liverpool. After a few decent touches, the ex-Lyon trickster took on at least two Liverpool players and then placed the ball with utmost precision into the bottom corner.

Tables turned and how as everyone who was criticizing Martial was shut silent and the spectacular performance earned him comparisons to Thierry Henry.

Martial was a force to be reckoned with in the 2015-16 season, but he couldn’t cement his place in the starting line-up after several underwhelming performances.

The Frenchman will now be looking to improve in the upcoming season and it looks like he is preparing well as a recent video of United training for their pre-season shows Martial pulling off an insane back heel assist for Rashford in a small sided drill.

The short clip was posted by United’s official page on Twitter and the general reaction of the fans was positive as they were excited about the prospect of having a front three comprising of Mkhitaryan, Lukaku and Martial.

The fans will hope that Martial puts up classy performances for United next term.
