Arsenal outcast Francis Coquelin is mainly seen in action during the pre-season. For his recurring injuries keep him out of the scene for large swathes of the season. But the Frenchman seems to still have it in the tank to be worthy of a starting berth. Just see the clip.
In Arsenal’s pre-season game against the Australian side Sydney FC, Coquelin laid a silky smooth chip in a move that triggered a counter attack. It may not have yielded a goal, but the Frenchman’s touch reeked sheer class.
For a man who is so under-rated and underused, this clip will serve a timely reminder of his talents. Upon receiving the ball from near the half way line, the 26-year old nudged the ball over three players, two of whom were Sydney FC defenders, in a moment of some incredible football produced by the Gunners.
Coquelin was the architect of the counter though, with his midas touch, a touch that has left the fans waxing lyrical about him. The former Charlton Athletic man remains a valuable asset to the Gunners, and this video clip should be a food for thought for monsieur Wenger.
