Premier League giants Liverpool got their pre-season commitments off to a whimper as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Championship side Wigan Athletic. However, their latest acquisition Mohamed Salah, who made his unofficial debut in the match, produced a moment of magic which is enough for the fans to be optimistic ahead of the new season.
In a video clip that emerged online, the Egyptian could be seen picking up the ball (for the first time as a Liverpool player) near the half way line and slaloming past a pair of white and blue shirts to invade the final third. Although the finishing lacked the cutting edge as he racked it up high up in the stands, but the aplomb with which he made the run was surely a moment to behold.
The diminutive midfielder joined the red half of Merseyside on a £34.3 million transfer from Italian side AS Roma, where he spent two highly successful seasons. Salah comes in as a vital addition as Liverpool shore up their arsenal ahead of another Premier League assault and also the added Champions League challenge.
The going is getting tough, and looks like Salah is here to the rescue. The 25-year old was also on target in the game as he leveled the scores with his strike, but it was that run in the game that has espied a couple of eyes.
So Salah can dribble, and dribble well. And the Premier League defenders are warned!
