This year marked the 50th anniversary of Celtic’s European triumph. The only European title they’ve ever won, the day of May 25th holds a special significance in the hearts of all Celtic fans. The team is regarded as perhaps the greatest to have been assembled in the club’s history, and the jersey they wore on that historic night was remembered on a TV show this morning.
In an episode on Channel 4 programme Sunday brunch today, the talk centered around iconic football tops and the anchor (quite aptly named TIM Lovejoy) of the programme surely got all the on-looking Celtic on their feet when he brought up the 1967 final kit which the players wore.
To go by the words imprinted on it, it looks like a real jersey and not a replica. And Celtic fans absolutely went berserk about it being flashed on the screen, even if it was for a brief period.
Not only pride, but it was also a moment of nostalgia for the fans as that historic moment sweeped through their minds and the social media was rife about that particular scene in the programme. The internet was painted the green and white colors of Celtic for a while, with posts of this particular picture here made the rounds.
