Reigning Europa League champions Manchester United have made an encouraging start to their pre-season, having won all their games thus far. The latest casualty at their hands were none other than European champions Real Madrid, whom they defeated 2-1 on penalties.

The video clip of Eric Bailly and his sterling display on the day shows there’s a lot more for the Red Devils to rejoice about than just the victory.

The Ivory Coast star was in red hot form, a thorn in the face of Los Blancos with all his defensive exploits. The clip more than just establishes a case for him. For the 23-year old looked to be in an inspired form.

For once, he could be seen intercepting a cross, whereas the next moment, he is attempting a block. The Spaniards were clearly throwing the kitchen sink over their Premier League counterparts, but Bailly was there to save Mou’s men their beacon.

The sheer vigilance and vision of the game from him was commendable, and the fans just can’t shut eulogizing about him.

Bailly joined United last season from Villareal and hit the ground running as he stamped his authority in Mourinho’s defensive set-up. But against Real Madrid did he truly prove his mettle. The immense talent that he embodies.

Manchester United have set their sights on greater things this season, and if they do succeed on all fronts, Bailly might have a huge say in it.
