The Community Shield match between Arsenal and Chelsea witnessed the potential of Alex Iwobi as he left Cesc Fabregas chasing shadows during a moment in the game.
The Spaniard cut a sorry sight, failing to catch up with his fellow opponent. The midfield battle saw the former Arsenal midfield general come up against a rising star, with the latter emerging a clear winner.
Arsenal faithful would be thrilled to see one of their academy graduate trumping the more experienced Fabregas. Iwobi, who finished last season strongly has kept that run going; made evident by his performance in the cup tie.
For Cesc Fabregas, the aging legs would do well to get a starting spot, contended by the likes of N’Golo Kante and new arrival Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The manner in which he was dismissed by the young Nigerian, coupled with his failure to deal with a quick counter will surely be a cause for concern for Antonio Conte going into the new season.
However, Arsenal fans can’t seem to get enough of the moment when one of their own left Fabregas tasting grass on the ground. Check out the moment below –
