Arsenal new boy has got some muscle
Often bullied by opposition strikers, Arsenal’s defence has been pointed out to be lacking in physicality which is required to win the Premier League.
Perhaps keeping that in mind, Arsene Wenger made a move to add Sead Kolasinac to his backline this summer. An absolute man mountain of a player, the Bosnian is quite a presence at left back.
His bulldog style approach needs no introduction for Sky Sports, who dished out an imposing graphic for the man from Schalke. The line-up presentation highlighted Kolasinac giving an aggressive look, boasting a fine physique to go with it.
Possessing a hammer of a left foot, the new arrival is quick off the mark too. An exception to the subtle ball playing defenders the Arsenal manager prefers, Kolasinac brings a very different approach to the table.
Gunners have struggled to find an able replacement for the left back spot since the days of Gael Clichy. Although Monreal has done a robust job, critics have claimed his unsuitability against pacy and bullish forwards.
The match against Crystal Palace last season comes to mind when Wilfried Zaha destroyed Arsenal’s left flank. Perhaps it was the day Wenger earmarked Sead Kolasinac for his squad.
