After losing Kyle Walker to Manchester City, there was bound to be a big gap in Spurs’ defensive line. The fans have been urging Daniel Levy to sign a right-back and potential candidates like Ricardo Pereira & Serge Aurier have been on Tottenham’s transfer radar for some time now.
Tottenham kicked off their Premier League campaign against Newcastle at St. James’ park and academy graduate Kyle Walker–Peters started at the vacant spot his namesake left.
Although very promising and talented, the 20 year old is still inexperienced, so there was a sense of uncertainty over how he would perform at the top level, but Walker-Peters shut all his doubters by displaying an exemplary performance in the 2-0 win.
Only one game into the season, but Sky Sports took the opportunity to compare Walker-Peters’ and Kyle Walker’s performance on their respective debuts.
Tottenham fans didn’t mind though as the graphic shows how much more effective the youngster was yesterday than Kyle Walker in his first game for City.
Some fans were so impressed by the English U-20 international’s game that they think that a new signing may not be needed for the right-back position.
