Loaning out young players so that they can get more game time and experience is a fairly common phenomenon in professional football. It really does help smaller teams get the taste of some very promising talent, and the parent club always has the security that the player loaned out is still developing and gaining experience.
With the likes of Eriksen, Dele Ali and Dembele on the roster, it was always going to be tough for Tottenham’s 20-year-old midfielder Joshua Onomah to get the game time he needs to develop.
But Spurs really do see the potential in him, and that’s majorly why he has been sent on loan to Aston Villa for the season.
It was not a good day for Villa as they lost 3-0 to Cardiff, but the English U21 international had his fair share of fun on the pitch after this slick trickery left Cardiff’s Loic Damour eating dust.
Onomah received the ball out wide on the left flank. After an initial failed attempt to take on the opposition player, he recovered the ball and then went on to pull off a textbook pirouette to bamboozle Damour.
