Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium by a young and determined Everton side on Monday.
Having recently completed the big money signing of Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea City, the Toffees manager was asked if his spending this summer is over.
The query was met with a blunt reply and a smirk from the Dutch legend remarking, “I hope not”.
The former Southampton boss looked extremely pleased with his witty comment, taking a moment to savour in the moment. Sky Sports pundits in particular were left in limbo, failing to respond to his reply.
Everton have spent near £150 million in transfer fees this season, the biggest spree in club’s history. Aided by the sale of Romelu Lukaku for £75 million to Manchester United, it appears Koeman still has a move or two up his sleeve with just a week remaining before the transfer market shuts down.
